Viking Construction Goes Solar

Viking Construction, Inc., has completed the installation of 126 Siliken Solar power panels covering 3,000 square feet of roof top at its headquarters. The company now is generating nearly 30 percent of its total energy needs onsite, and is on track to offset more than 100 pounds of carbon each day. Estimated power “savings” equals about 3 trees or 2.5 barrels of oil a week. The panels were installed by Encon Solar Energy of Stratford, Conn.

In addition to reducing emissions and overall energy costs, Viking expects to be able to actually generate electricity that goes back to the region’s power grid. Encon is tracking Viking’s actual daily, weekly, and annual power generation statistics online, which can be viewed by clicking here.
