Project Description

In only 13 months, Viking Construction Inc. worked to transform a dilapidated, World War II-era housing complex into a stunning showcase of affordable homes in Waterbury, Conn. Serving as general contractor for the $28 million demolition and redevelopment of Warner Gardens (renamed Davis Gardens), Viking constructed 27 separate buildings on the 14-acre site that housed 122 new one-, two- and three-bedroom townhouse-style apartments. Each building is Energy-Star-rated with concrete foundations and shingles and hardy board exteriors. Interiors include quality tile and vinyl flooring, upgraded kitchens and bathrooms, and all standard safety features. The new complex also includes a community building and garage, children’s playground, community garden with gazebo, fences, parking, and an irrigation system. Viking completed the project in two phases, delivering on time and on budget.
